6 Ways to Get More Value from Your Employee Surveys

Want to get more value from your employee surveys? Of course you do! In this article, I share six awesome ways you can get more from your 6Q pulse surveys.

We have been working with a number of customers across the country and the world, in understanding how they get more value and benefit from their adoption of 6Q in their organisations.

In this article, I will share with you six ways that regularly get mentioned as methods to get more effective value from your employee surveys.

Use employee segments effectively

Our segments feature allows you to put all of your employees in various segments. Once this is done, you can then filter your poll reports by segment; see the Filter by Segment option at the top of every report.

For example, if you have multiple offices, you may want to sort your employees into location, as well as department. For example, you could have segments such as ‘London’ New York Boston and Sydney. Another set of segments could be Sales, IT, Accounting, etc. That way, you can filter and compare responses by both locations and departments, and narrow down to employees that match both segments, such as London Sales.

You can learn more about our segments feature in the article, Feature Spotlight: User Segments.

Communicate with your team about why you survey

It is well worth checking in with the entire team once in a while, and remind them all of the reason you ask that they complete these surveys.

Taking a moment to thank everyone, and share a few of the highlights in feedback or results, goes a long way towards reassuring the team that their responses are valuable to management and the organisation.

Change your survey questions regularly

Our library of over 200 professionals written questions means we have many questions at your disposal, as well as the ability to write your own survey questions. To help avoid survey fatigue, and to encourage regular reflection, we recommend that you change your six questions frequently.

Rather than completely change all six questions, try changing 1 or 2 with each few polls.

Celebrate high achievers with our leaderboard

If you use our employee recognition feature, High Fives, you will have access to the Leaderboard on your My 6Q dashboard. This leaderboard displays the employees who have received the most High Fives, and ranks them in order of total recognition received.

One of our New York customers holds a quarterly team meeting, where they hand out a gift voucher to the three top employees, according to this list. This shows public appreciation for their work in front of their colleagues, and encourages and motivates the other employees to be more helpful to their team members, to encourage more High Fives.

Look at our global survey benchmarks

Every poll response per question is recorded anonymously in our global database. This means that we have benchmark data for many of our questions, across employees of more than 1,000 organisations across the globe.

Each report shows a benchmark percentage next to the questions we have collected enough data for. You can use this data to compare your own teams and segments against the average response of all our customers employees, and see if your organisation is above, equal or below the global benchmark.

Encourage managers to use our resource library

Our Resources Library is available to all leaders in My 6Q. Accessible from every screen in the system, our library contains information on the 12 topic areas that we measure with our question library. This includes over 140 expert articles, as well as descriptions, definitions and other helpful information.
